Welcome. You know something other people want to learn: a skill from your job, a hard-won process, a craft, a way of solving a problem that took you years to figure out. Info Business in a Box helps you package that know-how into something people can buy, whether that’s a course, a newsletter, a coaching program, or a membership. AI helps at nearly every step. This page is your starting point. Read it once, work through the first 7 days checklist, and you’ll know exactly where to go next.
Who This Box Is For
This site is built for people who have real experience and want a practical, honest path to selling it. You don’t need to be famous, have a big audience, or be a tech wizard. You need something useful to teach, a few focused hours a week, and a willingness to test before you build.
- Experts and professionals (accountants, engineers, nurses, marketers, managers, trades) who want to package what they know beyond billable hours.
- Creators who already make content and want a product that fits their audience.
- Side-hustlers who want something they can build around a day job.
- Coaches and consultants who want to productize, run groups, or add a recurring offer.
- Hobbyists with depth in a craft, sport, instrument, or niche that others are eager to learn.
It is not for anyone looking for a get-rich-quick scheme. Info businesses are real businesses. They need a useful product, honest marketing, and ongoing support. We’ll show you how to do all three without the hype.
The 4 Info Business Models
Almost every info business is built on one (or a mix) of four models. Pick one to start. You can add others later.
π Courses & Digital Products
Package your knowledge once into a course, template pack, guide, or toolkit and sell it many times. Best for step-by-step skills and repeatable outcomes. Explore the track.
π° Newsletters
Build a trusted inbox relationship and earn through paid subscriptions, sponsorships, or by selling your other products. Best for ongoing insight, curation, and analysis. Explore the track.
π§ Coaching & Consulting
Sell your time and judgment directly, one-to-one or in groups. Fastest path to first revenue and the best way to learn what your audience actually needs. Explore the track.
π Memberships & Communities
Charge recurring access to ongoing content, live sessions, and a community of peers. Best when the need is continuous, not one-and-done. Explore the track.

Your First 7 Days Checklist
Don’t try to do everything at once. In your first week, the goal is clarity, not a finished product. Spend about an hour a day and check these off in order.
Day 1: Get oriented
- Read this page and skim the Info Roadmap.
- Read 4 Info Business Models Compared and pick a tentative starting model.
- Grab the free Starter Box (sign up at the bottom of this page).
Day 2: Inventory what you know
- List 20 things people ask you for help with, at work or in life.
- Circle the 3 you enjoy explaining and have real results in.
- Work through the skills inventory in Find Your Expertise and Audience.
Day 3: Pick a person and a problem
- Write one sentence: “I help [specific person] get [specific result] without [common pain].”
- Find 3 places online where that person hangs out (forums, subreddits, groups, newsletters).
- Save 10 real questions they’re asking, in their own words.
Day 4: Set up your AI stack
- Choose one general AI assistant and one tool for slides or video (you can change later).
- Write a short “voice guide” describing how you talk, so AI drafts sound like you.
- Try 3 prompts from the Prompt Library.
Day 5: Sketch the offer
- Run your idea through the Offer Builder.
- Write the promise, the format, what’s included, and who it’s not for.
- If it’s a course, draft a rough outline with the Course Outline Generator.
Day 6: Talk to real people
- Message 10 people who fit your audience and ask for a 15-minute chat about the problem (not a pitch).
- Read How to Validate a Course Idea.
Day 7: Plan the next 30 days
- Pick one validation test (pre-sale, waitlist, or paid workshop) and put a date on it.
- Block 3 to 5 hours a week on your calendar for the next month.
- Bookmark the roadmap step you’re on.
I'm starting an info business. Here's my background: [your job, skills, experiences, results you've gotten for yourself or others]. Suggest 10 specific audience + problem combinations I'm credible to teach. For each, give: who they are, the painful problem, the result they want, and which format (course, newsletter, coaching, membership) fits best and why. Be honest about where I might lack credibility.

Honest Expectations
A few things that tend to help, based on how info businesses generally work:
- Specific beats broad. “Excel for small nonprofit bookkeepers” is easier to sell than “learn Excel.”
- Conversations beat guesses. Ten real conversations will teach you more than a month of solo planning.
- Small beats perfect. A focused workshop you sell this month beats a 40-module course you never finish.
- Trust compounds. Honest marketing, real testimonials, and fair refund policies build a business that lasts.
- Stay in your lane. If you teach health, legal, financial, or mental-health topics, make sure you have the right qualifications and use clear disclaimers.
